Case Study: Connecting Crowds When Networks Fail

Custom App Development & UX for an offline event social network

About & Challenge WYA (Where You At) is a social tech startup focused on nightlife safety. They wanted to empower event-goers to easily find friends and stay safe, even in packed venues with poor cell signal. With only a concept in hand and a major festival season approaching, WYA needed a reliable app built fast. One that could work offline and handle real-time location tracking in crowded spaces.

Our Solution Ajroni’s mobile team architected a cross-platform application leveraging Bluetooth mesh networking for peer-to-peer connectivity. We implemented interactive indoor maps and geo-location features so users could pinpoint friends’ locations without internet. The UX was tailored for quick use in loud, busy environments – from sending friend “pings” to guiding users with on-screen navigation cues. By adopting an agile sprint schedule, we delivered a functional MVP in just 12 weeks, meeting the pre-event deadline. Post-launch, we continued refining features like push notifications and event alerts based on user feedback to further enhance the experience.
